The author was born in Havana, Cuba, were he graduated from the University of
Villanueva's School of Law. He holds an LL.M degree in Law from Harvard University. He is a
lawyer, essayist, public speaker, history scholar, business executive and militant in the fight for
Cuba's freedom.

Dr. Nestor Carbonell-Cortina was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1936, into a prominent and politically important family. He earned a Doctor of Law degree at the Univesity of Villanueva in Havana and a Master of Law degree at Harvard. Forced into exile in 1960, Dr. Carbonell-Cortina participated in the Bay of Pigs operation and represented the Cuban Revolutionary Council before the OAS. He is currently Vice President of PepsiCo and continues to write and publish books.
