Library Consortia

The present book Library Consortia – A Complete Handbook is primarily written to make aware the users about the concept and development of library consortia that has emerged worldwide as a major mean for resource sharing in digital environment. The book is divided into ten chapter, namely: Introduction; Library Consortium: An Overview; Consortia: Types and Models; Library Consortia: Components and Benefits; Governance, Structure and Funding of Library Consortia; Negotiations and Licensing; Management Issues and Challenges; Nationwide Single Library Consortium: the Merging; Evolving Roles of Library Consortia; and Important Library Consortia. It is hoped that this book will be useful not only for the working professionals but also the teachers of library & information science.

Dr. Anil Kumar Dhiman holds MA (Pol. Sci.), MSc (Botany), MLIS, BEd, MSc (Comp. Appl.), MBA (IT), MBA (HR), PhD (Botany), & PhD (LIS). He is working as Information Scientist in Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar. He has 260 papers (218 in Library Science and 42 in Botany) and 32 books (23 in LIS and 09 in Botany) to his credit. He has presented 77 papers /research papers in national and international seminars/conferences including one in Kathmandu (Nepal) during February–March 2011 and another in Lahore (Pakistan) during November 2015. 22 candidates M.Phil. (LIS) and 08 candidates (01 in Botany and 07 in LIS) have been awarded PhD under his supervision by now and many more are working for their PhDs. He is awarded with APSI Young Scientists Award & Gold Medal in 1999 by APSI, Muzaffarnagar (India); USSHLE-IJILIS-PBDBBS Award in Library & Information Science for the year 2003; Glory of India International Award in 2006 by Friendship Forum of India, Delhi; and “Best Librarian Award – 2016” by Library Professionals Association, New Delhi at PK Das Institute of Medical Sciences, Vaniakulum, Palakkad (Kerala) on 09 March 2016. He has also acted as chairperson/resource person in various seminars/conferences of national and international repute and had been the member of organizing committees. He is also associated with CSTT, MHRD, New Delhi as Library & Information Science Expert.
