The Life of David: The Man After God's Own Heart

For over a century, the writings of F. B. Meyer have provided Christians with a treasure trove of lasting value, affirming the gospel for every age. Careful editing by Lance Wubbels has helped to sharpen the focus of Meyer's thoroughly biblical portraits and update the language, while retaining their authentic and timeless flavor. F. B. Meyer's devotional studies on biblical characters reflect a rare depth of spiritual experience. It is comforting to find that these great figures were not so different from ourselves.. sometimes weak, indifferent, willful. Yet they had their moments of faith, humility, and courage, and God was able to use these for His greater purposes. God's faithfulness, which not only accepts but transforms such inconsistency, calls us to more effective Christian living.

Lance Wubbels is presently the Vice President of Literary Development at Koechel Peterson & Associates. For the previous eighteen years, he worked as the Managing Editor of Bethany House Publishers as well as a teacher at Bethany College of Missions. His interest in the writings of Charles Spurgeon began while doing research on an editorial project that required extensive reading of Spurgeon's sermons. He discovered a wealth of sermon classics that are filled with practical, biblical insight for every believer and written in a timeless manner that makes them as relevant today as the day they were spoken. His desire is to select and present Spurgeon's writings in a way that will appeal to a wide audience of believers and allow one of the greatest preachers of all time to enrich believer's lives.
