Published in 1886, first published in 1844. A limited edition, copy no. 9 of one hundred to be printed on large paper in England. In the publisher's original cloth, with contemporary end papers and the orginal half-titles. Both volumes contain a colour frontispiece, as well as all other twenty-four colour plates to I and all fourteen other colour plates to II. Collated complete. While today best known as a close friend of George IV, Brummell was a celebrity during his lifetime and throughout the nineteenth century, popularising the contemporary trouser among many other feats within his extraordinary life. This revised edition includes additional notes and colour illustrations of Brummell's contemporaries. In the publisher's original cloth, with contemporary end papers and the original half-titles. Externally, faint spotting and the odd faint scratch to boards. Bumping to the heads and tails of the spines, and to the extremities. Heavy browning and small chips to spine label edges. Front joints strained. Browning to end papers, mostly to the extremities, with strained hinges. Loosened tail of rear end hinge of I and front end hinge of II. Internally, hinges starting to central leaves of I, a little heavier to pp. 158, 160-161, otherwise firmly bound.
