2nd edition stated. Complete in two volumes, with marbled endpapers and edges of text block. Binding tight, but leather spine covers mostly chipped away; boards show overall wear; pages clean with a handful of penciled sidemarks; 1896 p/o signature on forward blank pages; tiny bookshop tag on inside front cover; a couple of small offset marks from article clippings. Mackay was a Scottish poet and journalist today best remembered for his 1841 book "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds." Published the same year as the first edition. 344 + 337 pages + 10 tinted full-page illustrations. Seller Inventory # 6811

Hi all! I've been accumulating volumes for well over half my life, mostly autographed and inscribed copies. Wrote a book on book collecting for a Random House imprint in 2004 and another, "Book Collecting Now: The Value of Print in a Digital Age," for Chatwin Books, published in 2019. I intended to keep most of these books forever, but my wife and I decided to move to Manhattan, which meant downsizing from an enormous suburban house, with practically unlimited bookshelf space, to an apartment in Greenwich Village.
