Octavo with green boards and silver stamping; light pink endpapers; 375 pages. This second edition appears to be considerably scarcer than the first. The work is purported to be the first work on Mexico written by a woman. Comprises fifty-four letters written while she was in Mexico; describes politics, people, and geography. The work has been regarded as significant due to its influence as well as its status as the only (and perhaps first) 19th century travel account of Mexico written by a woman, the wife of the Spanish Minister to Mexico. About very good to very good (-); pages are clean and unmarked; boards show some rubbing and light dampstaining; hinge is a bit tender; occasional dog-ear and nicks to edges of leaves.
