About this title

Synopsis

The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth is a book written by Thomas Jefferson that provides a textual extraction of the teachings and life of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Gospels. In this book, Jefferson aims to present the moral and ethical teachings of Jesus in a concise and easy-to-understand format. The book includes a comparison of Jesus' teachings with those of other religious figures, highlighting the similarities and differences in their doctrines. Overall, The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the teachings of Jesus and their relevance to modern-day life.1902. In 1803, while overwhelmed with other business, Mr. Jefferson cut from the evangelists such passages as he believed would best present the ethical teaching of Jesus, and arranged them, on the pages of a blank book, in a certain order of time or subject. He called it The Philosophy of Jesus of Nazareth, extracted from the account of his life and doctrines, as given by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John; being an abridgment of the New Testament for the use of the Indians, unembarrassed with matters of fact or faith beyond the level of their comprehension.
