Description:
Biography of Britain's greatest naval hero by one of her great poets. Two volume set. Full tan calf bindings, gilt decor, black leather labels. Hinges weak and failing, front cover of both volumes nearly detached, each volume missing about a half-inch at the head of the spine. A few early pages in each volume are foxed, but the texts are mostly clean. Viii, 258; viii, 288 pages, 'Ulm & Trafalgar', a Monody on Nelson's death, appended by the printer to volume two to fill 'unoccupied' pages, frontispiece portrait and sample of Nelson's signature. Second edition of the first biography of Nelson, eminently suited for rebinding. Seller Inventory # u2305
