The Whole Exhibiting a View of Literature and Literary Men in Great Britain for Near Half a Century During Which He Flourished." Volume I has a fine engraved frontispiece portrait from Joshua Reynolds, and two engraved fold-outs with samples of his handwriting, and a "Round-Robin" signed by his friends. With a very few spots of light foxing, else internally fine, in full calf, gilt. Spines darkened and dried out, and missing title labels. Extremities worn. Still a good to very good sturdy set. Bookplates.
