Fair quality book considering its age. 6-7/8" x 4-5/8", 184 numbered pages includes an "Appendix" and "Index", followed by 4 pages of ads (inked marginal notes tabulate the prices of all the books in pounds). The book is nearly square, with all four corners bumped, rounded and worn to the boards. The head and heel are both damaged and missing pieces (see photo) with the bottom 1/4" missing and most of the top 2-1/2" of the spine either missing or poorly attached with tape (see photo). Both boards are attached but are a bit loose; the front hinge is missing its top and bottom cords (of 5), and only #3 & #4 are attached whereas the rear board is simply a bit loose. All pages up to the title page are loose and laid in. Except for a Jan. 25, 1842 inked inscription on the FFEP, an owner's name inked on the next blank page, and another inscription on the rear paste down, the interior, which has no illustrations, is free of writing, stray marks and stains. Paper is modestly toned and very flexible--it 'fans' quite well.
