Black Morroco over thick boards. Fron board with gilt decoration and titles. Rear board with the same gilt decoration. Spine with 5 raised bands with gilt decoration and gilt titles. All page edges gilt. Gilt binder's stamp to lower turn-in, verso of the front board: "Bound By Ramage London". Marbled endpapers. Neat dedication to front free-endpaper: "Mr. Victor Delcosta Andiade from his friend Alfred Wm. Bates 28th November 1876". Light foxing throughout, not detracting from the clear text and bright illustrations. VG. ** Solomon Victor Del Costa Andrade (1855 - 1949) . Census records show that he was a "Feather Merchant".
