The Life and Work of Inji Efflatoun (Hardcover)

Hardcover. The life and work of the Egyptian painter and activist in the women's movement, pioneer of modern Egyptian art.A valuable addition to Barjeel Art Foundation's publications on Arab art, this book sheds new light on Inji Efflatoun's biography. In addition to a number of newly-commissioned essays, the book presents an English translation of a volume originally published in Arabic in 1993 under the title Mudhakirat Inji Efflatoun: Min al-Tufula ila al-Sajn [The Memoir of Inji Efflatoun: From Childhood to Prison]. Based on an interview with the artist-a leading Egyptian feminist, political activist, curator, and visual artist-the book contextualises the political, social, and cultural dimensions of a complex and turbulent period in Egypt's history. - Salwa Mikdadi, Art historian, author and educator Shipping may be from our Sydney, NSW warehouse or from our UK or US warehouse, depending on stock availability.
