The Allumen have eyes that are warm glowing lights. Far overhead, their world is capped in vine-covered stone. The shimmering, luminescent fruit of the dense vines provide a viridian radiance to the entire land, a large island that slopes away on all sides. Their island is surrounded, not by oceanic waters, but by an abyssal sea of darkness. It is the Allumen's belief that this encircling emptiness extends infinitely outward and downward.
Westover Lake Orphanage for Abandoned Youth, which offers refuge to forsaken Allumen children, is where this epic tale begins. On the eve of graduation, six friends struggle with the fact that two of their oldest are about to graduate and leave the others behind. But just as they devise an exciting plan for one last memorable adventure, a bizarre secret is uncovered. Fascination turns to fear when they realize this discovery may mean that Eli, a sick child new to the orphanage, may be in great danger.
Do Herschel, Bruno, Tisdale, Maud, Hortense, and Sybil survive? Do they save Eli? Can they band together before darkness gains the upper hand? Find out in this brand-new graphic novel fantasy adventure!

About the Author
Andy Horner has been developing the Light Children story, soon to be a full-color complete graphic novel series, since the idea first came to him on a hiking trip in Virginia. He has now produced the first book of the Light Children story, The Invalid - Book One, under his own independent publishing label, Vortiscope, Inc.
Andy met Light Children artist Kyle T. Webster in 2004, when searching for an illustrator to assist with a commercial design job. When the two met to discuss the job, conversation quickly turned to their shared love of graphic novels. Andy described the Light Children project and Kyle was hooked - Andy would write it and Kyle would do the art.
When not working on Light Children, Andy enjoys spending time with his wife and making up bedtime stories for his two young sons.
When not drawing, Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife and friends, and seeing as much of the world as possible.
