Lightning and Thunder

This is the miracle filled love affair with my wife. It was love at first sight when I was 12, but I didn't know where she was from and we didn't meet until I was 26. We met during a thunderstorm and when she died after 45 years together, lightning struck the hospital knocking out even the emergency power for several minutes. For months afterward the hospital had to bring in a semi-truck mounted emergency generator. Our life was filled with miracles and coincidences which continued after she died. Some of the things that happened during these years when we were married were beyond belief except they happened. I had a very interesting career and I could never have hoped to find a better sole mate, lover, and wife. We traveled around much of the United States and Europe. We didn't need to plan a trip, divine intervention made things memorable. Everything in our lives came up roses until the end. Unfortunately, much of the words are centered around my career and achievements but they were made possible by my loving, talented, warm hearted, adaptable wife.

The Author spentover 39 years with the United States Air Force in the USA, Asia, andEurope.  He had some part in thedevelopment of most of the new weapons system in development between 1979 and1989.  Some of those systems are just nowbeing delivered.  He taught classes inweapons system research and development and logistics management as a guestlecturer and substitute professor at the Air Force Institute of Technology andvarious conference rooms around the USA.Over 3000 current and future managers attended his class on R&Dscheduling.  He served on many brainstorming teams to come up with unique solutions to military problems fromshooting down space objects to moving "dud" bombs off an active runway.
 
When think-groupsgot stalled, I was asked to step in.Some of these groups were headed by general officers and the attendeeswere all full colonels and GS-15's or SES's.I would get a few hours to review the problem they had spent weekslocked in some conference room looking for a solution.  In less than 24 hours I had studied the issueand developed some briefing charts on the issue and my recommendation.  The think group always took my suggestion andwent back to their regular jobs in no more than 2 days.
 
I am now retiredfrom both active duty and civil service.I am still active in writing, the local amateur radio club, travelingand writing books.
