Lights and Shadows in the Life of King David, and Their Lessons for our Own Time.

VINCE, CHARLES (1824 -1874) Baptist minister, Birmingham, UK. Lights and Shadows in the Life of King David, and Their Lessons for our Own Time. Birmingham, AL: Armour Bearer Publications. nd. 8vo. xxii, 228 pp. Originally published in 1871. Clean, unmarked and crisp paperback copy of this uncommon comment. Clearly highly thought of by Spurgeon! "Those who are acquainted with the great ability and wide influence of Mr Vince will know beforehand that he touches every subject with the hand of a master. Birmingham recognizes him as a leader, and the Baptist denomination loves and honours him. We are glad to see him turning his pen to such a work as this. Sermons of the highest order upon a few incidents in David's life. They are models of chaste, subdued, but powerful preaching. " - C H Spurgeon in Sword & the Trowel, 1871.
