The current trend applied in seed cakes treatment into value added chemicals has become one of the main challenges in sustainable development. Therefore, the seed cakes treatment is an ever growing topic of research, aimed at the rational use of this nonessential resource. The diminished availability of fossil resources makes the search for renewable bio-based substitutes an urgent matter. Edible seed cakes are used to feed the animals and also as fertilizers while non-edible seed cakes not fit to feed animals can safely be used for generation of bio-fuel and value added chemicals.
