The Inner Limits of Outer Space

Discusses how the biases of human psychology have shaped--and limited--scientific perceptions of the form that communication with extraterrestrial beings might take

Baird, professor of psychology and mathematics at Dartmouth, evaluates scientific and nonscientific attitudes about the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence. The author was a member of a NASA task force set up to study radio signals from space. Among the topics viewed within a psychological context are ancient astronauts, UFOs, space colonies, alien intelligence, human perception, and language structure. Sure to be controversial, this scholarly work is highly recommended for academic and large public libraries. Gary D. Barber, SUNY at Fredonia Lib.
