New, tight, pristine. Second edition, first printing, of this volume which is part of the renowned Springer-Verlag series of undergraduate textbooks. Designed for undergraduate math majors, typically third and fourth year students. The series employs novel approaches, as seen in this volume which presents linear algebra utilizing a visual, two- and three-dimensional Euclidean geometric approach. This approach improves the accessibility of the discipline's abstract topics. Provides historical context and promotes an understanding of the interrelations of multiple mathematical topics. Covers the standard topics of dot products, determinants, eigenvalues, quadratic forms and extends to n-dimensional spaces, inner products, and applications. Incorporates real-world applications (least-squares approximations, curvature of surfaces). For all but the last chapter, this text requires only high school geometry, algebra, and introductory trigonometry. Considered a classic.

Shipping terms
All books are shipped bubble-wrapped and boxed so they arrive in perfect condition. Each book shipped domestically is tracked. Shipping charges and delivery times are based on United States Postal Service estimates--the USPS says its estimates for international shipping times are based on shipping to "many major markets," so please bear that in mind if you do not live in a large city. If you order more than one item through us, the extra books will receive a 25% discount on shipping. If an order has special shipping requirements, such as if it is over-sized, we will contact the buyer with a request for extra charges before further processing.
Multi-volume book sets: When it comes to the cost of shipping, books that are multi-volume sets are usually treated as if the customer had ordered more than one item: that is, the first volume costs full price, with the extra volumes receiving a 25% discount. For example, a three-volume set will cost $10--$4 for the first volume, $3 for each of the other two volumes. The exception may be very large sets, such as encyclopedias. Those will have special requirements and we will contact the buyer about the shipping costs before processing the sale.
