Henry was a missionary, active in China since 1873 and had a keen for the culture and natural history of the country, his walking tour of Hainan was the first undertaken by a foreigner. Decorated initials. 8vo. 511pp. Some mild toning and marking to covers. Toning to spine. Previous owner's inscription to ffep. Occasional light spotting within. Otherwise clean and binding sound. Good. A nice example of this rare and important travelogue.
