Beginning with Arthur Rackham's Rip Van Winkle in 1905, the use of "tipped-in" plates made it possible to mass produce high quality color illustrations in books, and the Golden age of illustration was born. Featuring such illustrators as Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac, Kay Nielsen and many others, these artists created fantastic visions of classic fairy tales and legends.
