Listening to God in Scripture: Scripture-based Reflective Prayer Guide Series Volume 1

Do you long to grow closer to God in prayer? When you read Scripture do you yearn for God to speak to you in a personal way? Do you desire to be transformed more and more into the image of Christ? The disciples on the Emmaus road had their lives changed and their hearts set on fire as Jesus explained the Scriptures to them. Since the early centuries of the Church, Christians have encountered the Lord through praying with the Scriptures. This kind of prayer is a powerful way to experience what the early disciples did as they walked and talked with Jesus, the Living Word. This Prayer Guide is designed to be a practical, hands-on introduction to the practice of praying with the Scriptures. A brief description of this kind of prayer is followed by a journal-style guide which enables the reader to practice with carefully chosen short Scripture passages. This introductory guide is designed for anyone who desires to grow in prayer and draw closer to the Lord.
