Little Britches and the Rattlers

Little Britches saddles her pony and heads out for the rodeo. She hopes to win first prize in the calf-roping contest. Along the way, she meets seven cunning rattlesnakes. One by one, they threaten to eat her up! But Little Britches is smart. She knows how to bargain with those rattlesnakes and come out on top! Author Eric A. Kimmel is well known for the tales he has retold from around the world. Some of his best-known titles are Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins (a Caldecott Honor book), Gershon’s Monster, Anansi and the Talking Melon, and The Runaway Tortilla. A former professor of children’s literature, he lives in Portland, Oregon.

Illustrator Vincent Nguyen was born in Houston, Texas, and later moved to New York City, where he received a BFA from the School of Visual Arts. He has illustrated a number of picture books, including Jungle Bullies by Steven Kroll and Whoosh Went the Wind! by Sally Derby. He has also worked as an artist for animated feature films, such as Robots and Ice Age 2. He lives in New York City.
