Mother of six, grandmother of eleven, she lives on Cape Cod where she is a volunteer naturalist for the Massachusetts Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. She has traveled extensively by automobile in the western United States and the Canadian Maritimes in the company of her young adult grandchildren, lodging in a tent and cooking on a tiny propane-butane stove.
