Add to basketVolume Two only (of two) of the Kirriemuir Edition of J.M. Barrie's beloved Scottish novel. Bound in the publisher's original red cloth with elaborate Art Nouveau-style gilt scrollwork and blue floral stamping on the front cover and spine. Gilt titling on the front board and spine remains bright and legible. Title page printed in decorative red and black lettering. Embellished with etchings by G.W.H. Ritchie with tissue guards. Copyright 1891 and 1892 by United States Book Company. Printed by Trow Directory Printing and Bookbinding Company, New York.
Contents begin at Chapter Twenty and run through Chapter Thirty-Five. Pages are clean and largely free of foxing, with rough-cut (deckle) fore and bottom edges. Binding is tight and square; hinges firm and intact. Boards show only light surface wear and minor scuffing consistent with age. Spine lettering slightly faded but fully readable. Small spot of toning/discoloration to bottom edge of text block. Prior owner's ink inscription to front free endpaper: "Mrs. A.B. Thomas / from Angy."
A handsome copy of this attractive late-Victorian edition of one of Barrie's most popular works, the sentimental tale of a young minister and the mysterious gypsy woman Babbie set in the fictional Scottish weaving village of Thrums. Volume Two only; Volume One not present.
