Little Pearls

"Little Pearls" is a companion book to "Pearls Parenting Practices." Perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners, "Little Pearls" has beautiful, calming illustrations with rhythmic verse, and important messages for both the child and the parent/caregiver or teacher. Questions for discussion at the back of the book will help to inspire meaningful conversations and connections.

Just as a pearl is formed over time, beginning with a tiny grain of sand, a child evolves gradually and is shaped by the countless experiences he or she has from birth to adulthood. Our hope is to help foster healthy development, allow for a broad realization of potential and encourage a life-long love of reading.

Lisa Guy is a graduate of UC San Diego with a BA in Communications, a past business co-owner and mother of five. From a young age, Lisa has had an interest in people and their development - especially young children. After her third child was born, she stopped working outside the home and immersed herself in the lives of little ones. During her 30 years of volunteer work as a room parent, classroom volunteer, field trip chaperone, PTA and booster club leader, fundraising chair, teacher/administrative aide, and community volunteer, she became passionate about finding ways to help young people reach their full potential.

From an early age, Cameron Shields worked alongside her father in his art studio, as he fulfilled his responsibilities as Art Director for an advertising firm. Ever-encouraging of her interest in the study of nature, he spent time with her walking and collecting samples of pond water, leaves, flowers and other remnants of nature which they examined at home under a microscope, and Cammy spent hours analyzing and drawing. After a career in healthcare and later teaching science at the university level, Cammy resumed her passion for connecting with nature and exploring her environment through art, and began the practices of bird watching and watercolor painting.
