SAM (Sarah Ann McClure) is glad to be what her mother calls the link for her family because she is the middle child, linking her two brothers. However, she is not glad that her older brother, Doug, is on his way to Afghanistan. She is very excited about becoming a teen-ager, but she is not ready for the bus accident that happens on her thirteenth birthday. While she is elated by the experiences she encounters in her comatose state, she is fearful to tell her dad, Fireman Joe, the traumatic future that she knows is facing him. And who is the dark skinned, white clad young man who continues to drop in to check on Sarah while she is in the hospital?

Dr. Natha Sullivan is a pastor's wife and enjoys working with her husband. This is her first published work, but she is not a first-time author. She has been writing stories since childhood and has other books in progress. She also writes a column in a local newspaper each week. For the last seven years, Dr. Sullivan has written and directed Christmas plays for churches and public schools. Presently, she serves as supervisor and president of the board for a local community library. She became interested in near death experiences when she almost lost her younger sister who went into a state of shock due to a loss of blood. This interest led her to research the topic and give serious thought to what might happen when someone is in a comatose state. After retiring from a teaching career of 25 years, Dr. Sullivan returned to the rural area of southeast Oklahoma where she lived as a child and graduated from Battiest High School. She and her husband have four children and nine grandchildren.
