About the Author

Cherrie MacInnes is a veteran educator in the state of Maine with a masters degree in literacy and a Certificate of Advanced Study in education. She is the 2016 Penobscot County Teacher of the Year and a 2017 Maine Teacher of the Year finalist. Cherrie is so excited to share the story of how the third graders at Brewer Community School got a law passed to make the lobster Maine's official state crustacean. Teachers and students found it difficult to find developmentally appropriate information on how a bill becomes a law. Cherrie hopes that readers will find this book helpful. Cherrie lives in Scarborough, Maine with her husband, John. She loves teaching, spending time with her family, reading, traveling and losing herself in a Broadway show.
