The Local

Very well maintained. Small signs of wear but no tears, scratches or major flaws. Hardback with tiny wear to corners of cover, and otherwise very good. The Local takes us through the pubs of London on the eve of the Second World War. With Edward Ardizzone and Maurice Gorham as our guides, we experience a vanished world of tin whistle musicians, Jug-and-Bottle and Ladies' Bars, games of dominoes, pints of mother-in-law and wallop. Edward Ardizzone remains one of Britain's best-loved artist. First published in 1939 this is a new edition with full page colour illustrations, no dust jacket and in VGC. Copyright © Dovecote Press.
