Ill. with 3 plates in b & w of paintings by Rembrandt, Damien Hirst and Gilbert and George. 22 pp.The William and Mary Lecture was inaugurated to celebrate the Glorious Revolution and to contribute to the development of relations between Britain and The Netherlands. The lecturer on this occasion was Director of the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and the lecture given at the Senate House, Cambridge on 26 March 1998. Its subject matter was modern British Art and no effort seems to have been made to connect it to the Glorious Revolution though it can be supposed that the lecturer is giving a plug for British Art. With its elegant covers and prestigious background, the rather seedy content might provide for some a stimulating contrast. This copy £19.99.
