An ideal introduction to more advanced texts, the book complements Ciarlet’s Linear and Nonlinear Functional Analysis with Applications (SIAM), where the titular topics were not treated. About the Author

Philippe G. Ciarlet began his academic career at the University Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, in 1974, and he moved to City University of Hong Kong in 2002. He is a member of nine academies, including the French Academy of Sciences, the Academia Europaea, the World Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences. A Fellow of SIAM and of AMS, Ciarlet has received numerous awards, including a Grand Prize from the French Academy of Sciences and a Humboldt Research Award. He is Doctor Honoris Causa or Honorary Professor at eleven universities and the author of more than 220 research papers and 16 books.
