Log Cabin: The Classic American Quilt Collection

The romance of the Log Cabin lingers on some 125 years after American quilters first began piecing "logs" of fabric around a central square. While it's natural to assume that the first Log Cabin quilts originated on the American frontier, quilt historians cite traces of Log Cabin - type pieces found on Egyptian mummies and a very early English Log Cabin quilt that predates 1830. The quilts in this book represent the best of a long-standing tradition of Log Cabins. The project directions have been updated to take advantage of the best technology has to offer, like the sewing machine and rotary cutter.
