Hardback. 348pp. The story of the rags to power life of James Garfield whose presidency lasted a few short months before his assassination. Full leather binding with raised bands and gilt decorated compartments with flowers and foliage border. Red label and gilt titles to spine. Gilt stamp of the now defunct Dunhevd college, Launceston to the front. Marbled endpapers and gilt dentelle decoration to the inner-boards leather border. Slightly rubbed and scuffed with some tiny loss of leather to the head of the spine. Slightly faded. Binding is sound. Prize label to endpaper dated 1883 and therefore awarded to one of the very first pupils to the school. Inky finger smears to prelims. Minor spotting to title page. Binding is sound. Text is clean.
