Charles LeBuff has lived and written on Sanibel Island since 1958. He is a noted sea turtle conservationist and served as Refuge Biologist at J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island for 32 years. As an avocation, during those years, he formed an organization known as Caretta Research.
