Logic and Architecture Synthesis

This book describes several methods and systems solving one of the highlighted problems within computer aided design, namely architectural and logic synthesis. The book emphasises the most recent technologies in high level synthesis, concentrating on applicative studies and practical constraints or criteria during synthesis. Logic and Architecture Synthesis concentrates on the practical problems involving automatic synthesis of designs. It is essential reading for researchers and CAD Managers working in this area.

Logic synthesis generates combinational blocks for a given target technology. This book emphasises the most recent technologies, including field programmable gate arrays, and explores novel approaches for logic approaches based on binary decision diagrams. Architecture synthesis starts with a behavioural description and automatically generates an optimized netlist of the complete system. The book concentrates on the influence of lower-level CAD tools on synthesis. It includes chapters on controller synthesis, logic synthesis, macro bloc libraries and data path compilers. This book explores recent research results involving logic and architecture synthesis. It presents a selection of papers from the Workshop on Logic and Architecture Synthesis, organized by the International Federation for Information Processing and held in Grenoble, France, in December 1994. Logic and Architecture Synthesis concentrates on the practical problems concerning automatic synthesis of designs. It is essential reading for researchers and CAD Managers working in this area.
