247 pp. Stated: "Second Edition". Following the original Preface and the Preface to the Second Edition (which shows that the "Edition" cited is actually an "unaltered" reprinting of the First "Edition", i.e., a second PRINTING of the First "Edition"), Contents are divided into 19 Chapters: (1) "The Necessity of Metaphysical Solutions"; (2) "Language and Metaphysics"; (3) "What Metaphysics Can Be"; (4) "Properties of the Metaphysical Language"; (5) "On What there Is"; (6) "How We Know the Essence of What There Is"; (7) "Modes of Knowledge and Intuition"; (8) "The Verification of Metaphysical Statements"; (9) "The Veridicality of Eidetic Intuition"; (10) "Function and Events"; (11) "Negation, Conjunction, and Events"; (12) "Implication and What There Is"; (14) "Functions and Meaning"; (15) "Functions and Categories and Universals"; (16) "Events and Actual Occasions"; (17) "Actual Occasions"; (18) "Cosmology"; (19) "Commitments and Language"; Name Index, p. 245; Subject Index, pp. 246-247. Mottled gray card wrappers with Title, Author and Publisher name lettering in dark blue on front cover. Some faint tan, "wood grain"--appearing, stains on top and bottom edges and at a place on the spine (NO bleeding onto pages, NO warping or wrinkling, No odor--essentially negligible); spine slightly cocked; slight sunning of spine (ALL lettering still sharp and distinct, eminently readable) and across rear bottom cover and top front cover: describes worse than it is, but there you have it. Binding still tight (NO cracks); corners sharp (small upward curl to top right front cover corner); NO rubbing wear; NO previous owner names. Clean text. Despite cosmetic peccadilloes, book appears little used, if at all. Solid copy. Excellent condition for a book more than 50 years-old. The way to read a Philosophical Classic. …

Shipping terms
All domestic orders will be sent by USPS Media Mail, unless some other mode of shipping is requested or required and accepted in advance of shipping. International orders will be sent by USPS International Flat-Rate Priority envelope or box, unless the current weight and size restrictions cannot be met [e.g.: (1) the item is too large to fit the International Flat-Rate envelope or box or (2) the item weighs over 4 lbs. or (3) insurance is requested or required (e.g., the book is worth $40.00 or more)--in each such case, the item will be sent, only if the given destination country allows for it, by signing for the item.] All books sent by USPS Flat-Rate unpadded envelope (or padded envelope, moreover) will be wrapped in paper and packed between cardboard sheets larger than the book or with cardboard affixed at the corners, in order to prevent damage to the book during shipment. Books sent in boxes will also be wrapped in paper and suitably packed to avoid movement in box. The goal here is to ship essentially at cost, rather than to reap additional profit beyond the cost of shipping, thus keeping the customer's cost for shipping as low as possible.
