The Logic of Socialism (Classic Reprint)

This book by August Claessens, a leading Socialist philosopher, delves into the logic behind the Socialist movement as a solution to the glaring contradictions of the social order. Written in easily understood language, he begins with an introduction to the concept of Socialism and then proceeds to discuss the evolution of capitalism, the exploitation of workers and the disastrous effects of profiteering. He continues by examining the role of the capitalist class and the working class in the class struggle, and he contrasts the ideas of the ruling class and the Socialist view. Claessens carefully explains the major tenets of the Socialist program, including the collective ownership of the means of production and distribution, the democratic control of industry, and the abolition of profit. He demonstrates how moving past the capitalist system is essential and provides a framework for understanding the insights and ideas that are at the very core of Socialist principles.
