12mo HB. pp; unpaginated (Approx 500). Previous owner's 1854-dated inscription to ffep and additional signature to rear free endpaper. Rear internal hinge slightly damaged but holding. Some dog-earing throughout. Fair in diced cloth with leather and gilt title label to spine. Rubbing and scuffing to extremities and fading to spine. The first volume of three bound volumes of this penny periodical, this one serializing (Among others) Eugene Sue's 'Matilda'. Publication date for the periodical is c. 1845, possibly the inscription matches to this book-form publication date. Very scarce, with Worldcat giving only one copy (Of all 3 volumes) in the British Library.
