Bright poster of transportation in London from A. D. 327 to 1927. Dissected poster backed on linen; there are five panels, each backed on a separate piece of linen; missing the top panel (with title). Each panel measures 46 �" x 6". Poster has a few fold lines (one at the center and one near the left edge moderate chipping at fold line and at corners, light toning and foxing; poster has tape at some corners, affecting content. Color is still bright. First issued in 1928, this poster was designed by R. T. Cooper and was printed by John Waddington. Depicting "Shanks Pony," coaches, steamers, the omnibus, trains, motorbuses, the Tube, this poster shows a history of transportation in London over a course of 1600 years. We cannot find any copies of this 1928 issue in commerce and can find only a few auction records. Image is cropped, please call for more images.
