A Long Ride Home: A Billy Christian Adventure

In the Old West a man is defined by his deeds. So what can a young boy do to prove his worth after being abandoned by his father? Young Billy Christian longs to overcome his past and follow in the footsteps of his honorable uncle, Son, a cowboy he’s never met but always revered for his brave and kind feats.

A Long Ride Home finds Billy hard at work on his grandfather’s farm, but wishing he was anywhere else. The unexpected arrival of Son seems like a dream come true, especially when he begins training Billy for the latest mission—helping a nearby group of American Indians learn how to adapt to the land they’ve been granted. But the townspeople want the land for themselves and will hinder anyone trying to help the Indians. Soon, what started as a simple act of kindness turns into a nightmare when the sheriff arrests Son. Now Billy is the only one who can save the Indians—but how?

The first book in the Billy Christian series, these action-packed novels teach kids important spiritual lessons through the blazing, character-testing adventures of a young boy who’s searching for his purpose in the world.

Based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Michael Staires is happily married with seven children and one grandchild. A pioneer at heart and a born storyteller, it's not surprising that while serving as camp director at Shepherd's Fold Ranch for many years, one of his most popular tales was a western yarn about a young boy who dreams of becoming a kind and heroic cowboy like his uncle. Expertly melding spiritual lessons with thrilling adventures, A Long Ride Home is the first book in the Billy Christian series.
