Look Inside A Tree (Poke & Look Learning)

Cutouts in board pages allow students to look inside a tree as they read about the different parts of a tree.

PreSchool-K-- A colorful introduction to trees that utilizes die-cut holes on heavy board pages and cartoonlike illustrations to attract young children. Facts about the parts of a tree and the importance of trees as natural resources are presented. However, other than gimmicky appeal, the illustrations and holes for finger poking do little to enhance the educational value of the book. Also, the information presented is much too detailed for the intended audience. Elizabeth Cooper's A Tree Is Something Wonderful (Childrens, 1972; o.p.) presents the same basic information using a traditional format. --Barbara B.
