The way those animals view the girls is very different from how the girls see each other. Goats see far and wide in a panorama, whales don't see color the way humans do and a high-soaring eagle's sharp vision can clearly see a tiny mouse far below. Through clever illustrations and scientific prose, we are reminded that while we may see things differently, we all share this life together on planet Earth.

About the Authors

Carol Matas is an internationally acclaimed author of over fifty novels for children and young adults. Carol writes contemporary and historical fiction, science fiction, fantasy, and more recently, picture books. Her best-selling work has been translated into more than a dozen languages including Spanish, Japanese, French, and Danish. Carol’s books have garnered over 100 awards and honors. The awards include numerous Sydney Taylor awards, The Geoffrey Bilson award, the inaugural Silver Birch award, two Canadian Jewish Book Awards and two nominations for the Governor General’s Award. Her novel Tucson Jo was a finalist for The National Jewish Book Award. Carol lives in Winnipeg.  

Cornelia Li is a Chinese-born illustrator currently based in Toronto. She is intrigued by narrative woven into daily interactions between people and their surroundings and she set out to capture the relationship by externalizing the ideas and emotions into elements in her images. Her work has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, Communication Arts, the AOI, 3x3, the National Magazine Awards and more.
