Second US edition box set, 7th,6th,6th printings 1971, published by Houghton Mifflin. This set issued with a number code to the label of the case and without a price to the dust jackets, indicating that this was originally issued by the Book Club. Box with a few bumps to the corners, some wear to the bottom, bright label, some tanning to the inside, still strong and secure. Dust jackets with sun faded spines, less so to The Return of The King, a little wear to the top edge of jackets, a tiny nick to the spine of The Two Towers, and a tiny chip to The Fellowship top edge, jackets otherwise tidy. Books with black covers and bright gilt plus metallic orange, red, and purple decorations. Strong colour to the top edges, with the respective orange, red, and purple. Square, securely bound, with clean, bright pages, no inscriptions. Complete with fold out map at the back of each volume. The Return of The King has some tiny speckling to the fore edge which appears to be over spray from when the top edge was coloured. Very good books, good jackets and box.
