Tolkien's most famous work was originally published in three volumes between 1954-1955. Tolkien spent more than ten years writing the primary narrative and appendices for The Lord of the Rings, during which time he received the constant support of the Inklings, in particular his closest friend C. S. Lewis. Maps present in all 3 volumes. // The 1st book is 'The Fellowship Of The Ring' which is a 12th impression hardback 1962 with its dustjacket-the dustjacket has been split in half & is sello taped / The second volume is 'The Two Towers' which is a 10th impression from 1963, a hardback with its dustjacket / The third volume is 'The Return Of The King' which is a 11th impression from 1965, a hardback with its dustjacket-Over all the set is in good condition-the dustjackets spines are a little faded & chipped along the edges & all the volumes have the previous owners name to the 'front end-paper'.
