About the Author

Alan Fisk has always been fascinated by the historical novel, even before he discovered that his French uncle Jean Bassan was a successful historical novelist. Alan has worked as an economist, an editor, an Air Force officer, and a technical writer, and he has lived in Singapore, Austria, England, and Canada. His first novel, The Strange Things of the World, told the story of the world's first tourist cruise, when a party of London scholars and gentlemen chartered two ships to take them to Cape Breton Island and Newfoundland in 1536. His second novel, The Summer Stars, is a life of the sixth-century Celtic bard Taliesin. His third novel, Forty Testoons, is the adventure of a young English priest who is sent to spend the winter of 1504-5 in Newfoundland with a party of fishermen.
