Lord, Where Are You When Bad Things Happen?: A Devotional Study on Living by Faith

PART OF THE BELOVED “LORD” BIBLE STUDY SERIES WITH MORE THAN A MILLION COPIES SOLD—insightful, warm-hearted, and designed to meet you where you are and help you discover God’s answers to your deepest needs.

“It’s overwhelming to consider the number of people who learned how to study their Bibles inductively because of [Kay Arthur’s] years of faithful teaching and writing.”—Melissa Kruger, The Gospel Coalition

You never dreamed it would happen to you. You cry for help . . . but God doesn’t seem to hear. Why?

Chaos, tragedies, broken relationships—how could a God who is all-powerful, all-wise, and all-loving allow these things? And what about the wars, disasters, and plagues tearing the world apart? If God really is who He says He is, how can He let these things happen? Why doesn’t He do something?

This daily study guides you to the answers through the book of Habakkuk, helping you know God, understand Him, and love Him more fully.

In The “LORD” Series, Kay Arthur, creator of the Precept inductive Bible study method and founder of Precept Ministries international, guides you through the Scriptures to uncover truths you will want to share with others. Designed for group use or personal study.

Kay Arthur was executive vice president and cofounder of Precept Ministries International. Known around the world as a Bible teacher, author, conference speaker, and host of national radio and television programs, she wrote more than 120 books and inductive Bible study courses, with a total of over five million books in print. Kay and her husband, Jack, founded Precept Ministries in 1970 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Started as a fledgling ministry for teens, Precept today is a worldwide outreach that establishes children, teens, and adults in God’s Word, so that they can discover the Bible’s truths for themselves. Kay Arthur passed away in 2025.
