April 1909; 501 p., clean and unmarked within but former owner's signature is on front end page and there are occasional smudges on end pages; inlaid newspaper articles from Sept. 19, 1933 announcing wedding of author, U.S. Minister to Paraguay, has left tan mark on facing page; lovely color ill., including frontis., which has tissue guard; front gutter cracked but binding firm and volume square. Despite absence of d.j., the red boards with white lettering are clean and unfaded with only light bumping of corners and slight rubbing at crown and foot of spine.
