Losing David. the Long Goodbye

David was sitting up in bed, holding a revolver. He had a glassy stare. I wasn’t sure if he realized that it was me. I was frightened. My heart was pounding, and my arms were tingling and felt weak. But at no time did I fear for my safety. Somehow, I knew he would not hurt me.

This moment encapsulates the harrowing journey of a Vietnam Veteran and his devoted wife of 52 years. "Losing David, The Long Goodbye" is a poignant memoir by Thompson, offering an unflinching look into the life of a caregiver living with a loved one battling Dementia and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The unpredictability of violent episodes turned their home into a battlefield, where love and fear coexisted.

Thompson's narrative is a beacon of hope for those navigating similar challenges, providing solace and understanding through shared experience.
