The 5th book in the Oz series written by Ruth Plumly Thompson carrying on the tradition of the original 14 stories by L. Frank Baum, maintaining the lovely illustrations (endpapers & internals) by artist John R. Neill. Orig. published in 1925, this is a FIRST EDITION, but slightly later printing, since the illustrations are now rendered in black-and-white vs the original color. With deep blue publisher's cloth over boards, black lettering & design to spine, publisher's name in fancy, not plain, script, & a full-color front paper pastedown, in 280 pages. From a single owner collection, this hardcover book is in VG+ condition: very bright & clean, binding straight & strong, both hinges secure. Slight pushing to both ends of spine & rubbing to extremities/corner bumping. Pages creamy white, with moderate tanning, heavier around edges. Front pastedown is bright & colorful, with no edgewear, but a scrape through the "o"' in first word of title. The "This Book Belongs To." box in front bears former owner's name in pencil, written in pen on ffep; no other markings. The DJ is mostly gone, save for the front cover & part of spine, now protected in clear plastic cover. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.…
