Mrs. Mathis describes herself as always having the gift of communication, both written and in speech. However she admits that not until recently did she understand that communication is a gift from God to be used wisely and to edify. One of the two tags she uses often is, "I used to write wrong but now I write, right!"
Paula continues to recognize that through God's timely intervention and a good cleaning up of her words, her actions and her heart, that she has been primed and prepared to step into her position as a 21st century "Poet for the Lord".
