Love and Friendship and Other Early Works (Paperback or Softback)

A wonderful collection of early works by Jane Austen. Including the titular Love and Friendship, a biting satire of the romance and sensibility novels popular in her day.

Penned when she was just 14 years old, these texts includes all of Austen's original spelling quirks. Although written for the enjoyment of family and friends, her witty dialogue and characteristic sense of humour are very much there.

This volume also includes:

An Unfinished Novel in Letters,

The History of England,

A Collection of Letters,

and many others…

These delightful and often humorous pieces showcase Austen's budding talent for character development, social commentary, and sharp wit. From playful parodies to insightful observations, this compilation offers a fascinating glimpse into the early creative mind of one of literature's most beloved authors.

Jane Austen (1775-1817) was an English author born in Hampshire, England. She's best-known for her novels in which she critiques 18th century society and displays her characteristically sharp wit. Austen's most famous works include Sense and Sensibility, 1811, Pride and Prejudice, 1813, and Emma, 1816. Although her works have now been translated and printed in editions across the globe, Austen was relatively unknown during her lifetime, publishing her novels anonymously.
